The trees around her extended into darkness, massive branches full of leaves spreading out in every direction, pelted by raindrops as they splattered across viridian fans. When she looked up, she saw a similar sight: trees curving into the black above, not even a speck of stars peering through the thick canopy. She took a deep inhale, felt a fresh, bitter cold that swallowed up her lungs, chilled every vessel in her body. The shower continued around them, filling the air with a sweet scent unlike any other. It almost smelt of strawberries—a rare human fruit salvaged from wherever they came from before arriving in the Known Galaxy…
