Smashed Together

Bunch of different writing snip-bits that are all smashed together into one post, because none of them would be long enough to be their own post. ;D

“Civilians are caught in the crossfire!” Katara yelled over the sound of gunshots. Jerry cursed and ducked behind the broken building wall as returning fire started to bombard him.

“There’s no way we can get over there with these guys. They’ll have to fend for themselves.”

“You have no right to hold me here!” Jade seethed, sitting at the edge of her bed, right hand in the crook of her elbow. “If Aris realizes what  you’ve done, you can bet the entire Opes fleet will be on this Vix-forsaken planet!”

Thaddeous smiled and moved through the door completely, allowing it to shut behind him. He stood a few paces from her and adjusted his tie.

“You and I do not need to be enemies, Jade Cavvar.”

“Is that so? Then give me back my weapons and armor.”

“I’m afraid I cannot do that.” He rolled up the cuffs of his jacket and under shirt, green eyes moving away from her. “Why are your eyes green, Jade Cavvar?” He did not look at her. She didn’t say anything. “Are they green because of your condition or political status?” Now he looked at her. She frowned, busying herself by tending to the wound in her arm. He smirked.

“Both?”

“Give me my weapons,” she hissed. Her green eyes locked on his. “And you’ll see.”

“You’re not who you said you were.”

“How do you like your kennelar? Roasted or fried? I prefer roasted, but you are our guest.”

“How the hell did you get into the party? They scan people.”

“Roasted it is. Now, dear, do you like white or red whine? Or should I simply bring out the beer?”
