Saber
So I’ve been writing in Saber (the first novel I ever finished) for some time. Currently writing in it (because I’m rewriting it so it is better, more tense, awesome and I’M SO EXCITED TO TELL THIS STORY YOU HAVE NO IDEA. It’s my favorite character I’ve made starring as the lead role (Jade Cavvar) and her story is both tragic and hilarious. And awesome. But yeah) because I’m cool, but I thought I’d attach a little something I’ve written.
DISCLAIMER: Saber is a work of my own, all characters are mine, though the universe (Star Wars) is not mine. I don’t claim it in any way, just the characters. Also! Anything read below is part of the first draft. Who knows if it’ll make it into the final draft, so don’t get your hopes up if you really enjoy a scene. Kay? Kay. Awesome. Go ahead and read now.
Still quite sober, more than she would’ve liked, Jade stalked out of the cantina, glowering at the ground with agitation. She paid no heed to the slave thanking her for coming to the cantina, or the fact that he shook with fear with her clearly unhappy disposition. Her emerald eyes shot daggers at the wet tile beneath her feet as she stepped back into the storm. Who was he to think he could just order her around? Who was he who thought she would just lie down and do as he said? She looked up, pulling her hood over her recently dried hair.
“Eh, screw him. I’m not doing a single thing he asks.”
“Excuse me.”
“Eh?” Jade paused to look towards the voice. Then she realized it wasn’t spoken, it was whispered within her mind. Which, of course, didn’t help the fact that she was already terribly pissed.
What the hell!? Get out of my head!
I am sorry, replied the muttered voice with something of a smirk, but there are too many people to speak with you in person. I would like to meet with you. About that Thaddeous character.
Forget it.
You dislike him. So do I.
I’m not about to get myself into more trouble. She moved towards a speeder pad, covered for the customers in line, waiting. She stepped to the front of the line and shot a look back at the others, as if saying if you want to die, go ahead and challenge me. None of them did. She took the next covered speeder, but the patron already in one of the other seats didn’t leave. Jade shot her a look, yet said nothing to the woman.
“How about you take me somewhere where there’s a fight, eh? I need to get some training is anyway.”
“Of course, my Lord.” muttered the driver softly as Jade leaned back against the seat and closed her eyes.
“A brute?” spoke the woman next to her. Jade cracked an eye, sighing as she realized the other was questioning Jade’s specialty.
“Just because I like to train doesn’t mean I’m a brute. Name’s Jade.”
“Hmm.”
“You got a name, gizak? Or are you the mysterious, silent type? Because I’m letting you know now, I’d just as soon throw you out this speeder than deal with a silent type with judging issues.”
The woman cracked a smile under her dark hood. It was probably the creepiest smile Jade had ever seen and sent shivers up and down her spine, but she wasn’t about to display that fact.
“Ew. Please. Don’t smile again.” She closed her eyes again, sighing. “Bloody Mandalore, I need another Force-damned drink.”
“I have—”
“I don’t take drinks from strangers.”
“Mmm.” I didn’t want to give it to you anyway.
“Okay! Woah,” she turned to look at the woman. “You got a name, voice in my head? Or are you just going to sit there, all smug, and not tell me what this is all about?”
“When we get to your shady part of town, I’ll let you know. So while you’re busy beating people up, maybe you’ll be a little less hostile towards my ideas.”
“I’m not hostile,” Jade grumbled defensively. The woman grinned, pulling off her hood. She was human, tan skin, black hair pulled back to a bun atop her head. She was pretty, but there was something about her that sent Jade on edge. Every single instinct she could possibly have told her to take her chances jumping out of the speeder. Possibly throwing her lightsaber at the speeder in the process to take out this woman with a creepy grin. Luckily, Jade was pretty adept at keeping her mind guarded and didn’t worry about her memories or secrets being pulled from her skull. And, of course, her stubborn nature wouldn’t allow her to throw herself out of the speeder. It could be fun, though.
So there could be spelling errors…go ahead and point them out and I’ll fix them. Just remember, this is still a rough draft. All things here may not survive in the long run. :3
